Relations of Permanence
I am afraid of what passes
The permanent frightens me
What leaves a mark?
The elusive or the erasing?
I Cannot Bring It About is a series of moonotypes printed on 100X70 cm silk paper.
each print is made in a single, extended sitting. The works begin from the idea of a landscape, not as a specific place but as a familiar, almost generic image of one. Working through numerous layers, the process unfolds in reverse: material is gradually removed through a limited vocabulary of manual actions and gestures. Each combination produces a different accumulation of marks, shapes, and densities. Through this process, the image is dismantled and rebuilt into a place that is not a place—a whole that resists becoming whole.
